I can only think of bad movies that everyone talks about…. It’s very English and I honestly can’t compare it to any other movie I’ve ever seen. I love Funny Bones, with Oliver Platt, Leslie Caron, Oliver Reed, and Jerry Lewis. The acting from a huge ensemble cast is outstanding, right across the board, from bit parts to leads. The plot might be incoherent, but I think that’s what makes the film unique. If you think you’d enjoy Michelle Pfeiffer & Rupert Friend in a sexy little period romp you’ll love this one…

I’ve been in a relationship with a person who was loathed by my friends and family. That might change if Harry’s book is an all out attack on his father and brother. What fascinates me is her utter inability to stage manage the dumb dumbs who make up the royal family. I don’t give a damn if she divorced her husband via FedEx or slept her way into acting roles. The monarch could do that, theoretically,, but to strip him of his princely title would be unprecedented in modern times except for the case of treason. If they simply decided that royal life wasn’t for them and moved to the States to build a life with no fuss, then I’d be appalled at the daggers out for them.
What’s a really good movie no one really talks about?
It is honestly one of my favorite movies, and I’ve never met a single person who has seen it. James Mangold’s film debut “Heavy” (1995), starring Pruitt Taylor Vince, Liv Tyler, Shelley Winters, and Debbie Harry. I love Sunset Boulevard and I really enjoy the fabulous funny and scuzzy riff on it, Heat. Even though I don’t like Kevin Costner, sports movies, or golf, Tin Cup is one of my favorite movies. I’ve said this before in another thread.

While so many wonderful films are suggested in this thread, I can’t watch them all. As far as Olivier Assayas films go, a movie of his I adore that I truly never hear anyone talk about is Summer Hours. “Radio Days”—the most nostalgic of Woody Allen’s films, full of great vignettes and character parts.

Mendez has a broken vocal cord and was advised to stay out for an extended period of time until it healed. quote R207 and R205 seem contradictory. Likely, this impression comes from listening to the cast album.

Once upon a time I would have included The Paper Chase. It is free to watch the complete movie on YouTube! I love “The World of Henry Orient.” David Fincher’s filmography is always talked about. Try to stick to the homework assignment people. And except for Bolero (which I usually love), I love the score as well.
I know nothing about how the dark arts of swarming content you don’t like but it seemed a coincidence that happens from time to time. This thread seemed quiet as I watched. R552 He will always blame family, media and others for his mistakes. But, really, for Meghan to state that in her court papers should have been up in 18pt type in the media, because it confirms that she was lying the whole time for personal gain on Oprah.
In a land where the people are narrow and suspicious, where do they draw the line between madness and sweetness? The Omega Man (1971) is preferable to I Am Legend (2007) which credits the writers of the 1971 film and the novel’s author Richard Matheson R296 Many good movies were not successful upon release. The Night Of the Hunter was not a successful film when it was released. He continued acting but never directed another film.
- She got married too soon in the series, resulting in boring story lines, when the show could have been about Rhoda dating.
- Most people go in at 40 and tell the doctor to give them the everything job and that’s too much.
- quote Who was the killer in The Morning After?
- Is it that the book represents the revenge from the people whom Meghan stepped on to get to the top, or is it about that Meghan and Harry swore revenge against the BRF?
They are generally printed domestically by a UK publisher with the international publication happen by a larger publisher who purchases the international distribution rights to the book. This is chicken road 2 very common with UK books (particularly biographies). The book is only being published in the UK right now. quoteTheir poor little kids.
The role was never “so small” as the poster I responded to at r221 suggests. But the character registers because of her function in the plot, which is much the same for Gussie across the versions. Sorry, R238, but I thought the very weird statement “Gussie’s role is not significantly smaller in the original script, she just doesn’t sing very much” definitely deserved an “Ummm.” Umm, MERRILY is a musical, and Gussie’s role was significantly smaller in the original version of the show BECAUSE she had nothing to sing. Was The Miller’s Son already written when Garn Stephens was originally cast as Petra?
TV characters that ruined shows
The more unhinged and neurotic the character, the better Geraldine was. quote Page was a total hambone–occasionally it worked She made the character so annoying and unlikeable, you ended up rooting for the daughter-in-law. That kind of heavy duty emoting probably works better on stage than in film. The black humor compliments darker elements of the story. Similar setting to the more recent Banshees, a good cast with Brendan Gleason also in the lead.
- She books into a hotel as Mrs. Neele.
- R95, I’ve recently been rewatching Angel for the first time since the 2000s.
- Just flipping through some of the stuff being put in Twitter not that ebook is out in the UK and yeah….it appears Tom Bower does deliver.
- From the time he woke up on Thursday, he was quiet and withdrawn—perhaps a carryover from his state of mind the night before.
- Definitely better than Halle Berry’s performance.

This film was released in 1991, and it featuresa very young Nicole Kidman, Noah Taylor, and Thandiwe (then Thandie) Newton. Another great film you can watch on Youtube is “Flirting”. You can watch the entire film on youtube. I’d like to recommend “A Soldier’s Daughter Never Cries”, a forgotten Merchant-Ivory film. A heartfelt thank you to the people who recommended “They Shall Have Music” and “Alive and Kicking”. R187 – It, like The Heart is a Lonely Hunter and They Shoot Horses, is a film I saw when it first came out and haven’t wanted to watch since.
This is one of the few movies I’ve seen that gets better and better with each subsequent viewing. quote Femme Fatale by Brian Depalma. I pick this one because it’s a movie I didn’t expect to be moved by the way I was. There’s tons of British movies that could be posted here.
Saying mean things about children celebrity or not is being a bad bitch. I love that DL is anti-Beyoncé. This thread is no place for a politically correct shred of manure like you. quoteDatalounge is stupid wishing tragedy on pro-gay families. Same thing happened to Demi Moore’s children.
R5- Bjork WAS nominated for Dancer In The Dark If they’d released it later in the year (instead of March), she absolutely would’ve been nominated. A moving dramatic performance with comedic elements. We need to start The Datalounge Awards, for all those unheralded performances through the ages. Mary Tyler Moore and Timothy Hutton received most of the attention, but Sutherland is heartbreaking and really just perfect in the role.
quoteI love Betty Buckley but I think the Dolly tour nearly killed her so I doubt we’ll be seeing her back on Broadway. quoteI can see validity in the credit if the person doing the conceiving wasn’t also one of the book writers, but if they are then it just feels redundant. And he directed a movie version of Juno and the Paycock, which story was later a musical. I don’t think Hitchcock films sing. quoteIt’s very 1960s to reject him just because he had a big role in a famous TV series.
Quote Well, I’m pretty sure they don’t just put it in a plaster cast and have all the chorus boys sign it. quoteSome say it’s better to exercise the vocal cord as opposed to rest, but I don’t think exercise means performing in a show. Of course this was more than 40 years ago so the thing I remember most was how much I loved it. Now it is revived fairly often and is being made into a movie.
The powerful House of Sand and Fog with superb performances all around Actually anytime I hear about Nazi hunters I think about The Music Box. Pat Hingle was incredible in THE GRIFTERS; every time he showed up, my heart rate started hammering!! The 3 lead performances are legendary. A film depicting the underground rave music scene of the late 90s-early 2000s. For all the reasons you stated but also because it has one of my favourite Meryl performances.
